What is Offset Printing ?
Offset printing is the ideal service when you need large quantities and/or flexible color, paper and sizing options. Offset printing uses four colored inks. The four ink colors are Cyan (C), Magenta (M), Yellow (Y) and Black or Key (K) - more commonly referred to as CMYK. Because the inks used are translucent, they can be overprinted and combined in a variety of different proportions to produce a wide range of colors.
Each ink requires its own 'plate'. Your full color digital data is printed with just 4 inks, one on top of the other, so we need to output your file to 4 different plates, one for each color. Each flexible plate created in the imagesetter machine will then be attached to the plate cylinder in the printing press and the corresponding color printed. This color separation and plate making is carried out digitally, directly from your file to the imagesetter using CTP or computer-to-plate technology. Traditionally this was done photographically.
During every cycle of the press the ink image is first transferred to a rubber surfaced blanket cylinder and from there to the paper. This indirect method is the 'offset' after which the process is named. The blanket cylinder's flexibility both preserves the delicate plate and conforms to the surface of textured papers.
What is Digital Printing ?
Digital printing is a type of printing from a digital image directly to a wide array of media. In general we use the term to refer to professional printing where jobs from desktop publishing and other digital sources are printed using large-format or high-volume printers. This type of printing allows for on-demand printing, short turnaround time, and even a customization of an image such as variable data. The savings you will find in labor and the continual evolving capability of our digital presses means that your choice in digital printing will match or even supersede your use of traditional offset printing technology. The adoption of digital printing will allow you to print a large quantity of customized sheets at a low price.
What is Screen Printing ?
Screen is used to print on paper products, garments (T-shirts, sweatshirts, tote bags, and other textiles), as well as promotional items, banners, posters. A significant characteristic of screen printing is that a greater thickness of the ink and can print on substrates of any shape, thickness and size can be applied to other printing techniques.
What is Lamination ?
After printing the sheets are taken for finishing. This include adding gloss or matt laminations to the printed paper for Long lasting and protect the print area.
What is Spot Varnish ?
A spot varnish is a varnish that is put on only a portion of the printed page. It can be gloss or dull and is used to highlight or emphasize a photo or text, or can be used as a subtle design element. A spot varnish requires that a special plate be created for the press. It is treated like it is an additional color.
What is Foil Blocking ?
Foil blocking is an excellent way of adding value and impressive impact to any job. A heated metal die of the required image is used to stamp the foil onto a material. Today there is a huge range of foil on the market including Gold, Silver, Bronze, pigment colors as well as many special diffraction and security foils.
What is Foil Embossing & Debossing ?
Embossing and debossing are two separate processes. Embossing makes things stand out – literally, whilst debossing leaves a lasting impression. Pre-printed and foiled details can be embossed / debossed in perfect register. Alternatively a "blind" image/text can be impressed on the material for a more subtle effect. Both embossing and debossing add an element of touch and feel to a product and are sure to impress!
What is Die Cutting ?
Die-cutting is a process used in many different industries to cut a thin flat material (in our case, paper) into a specific shape using a steel cutting die. It can be used to punch out a decorative shape or pattern to incorporate within a larger piece, or it can be used to create the main shape of an object by cutting the entire sheet of paper in an distinct/designed way.
